Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information the Switchlet website and the Switchlet macOS app handle, and how that information is used.
Summary
Switchlet is designed to do most of its work locally on your Mac. The app does not require an account or a cloud backend to route links. The website uses privacy-friendly traffic analytics so the site owner can understand aggregate usage.
Information the website collects
The website uses GoatCounter to measure page views, downloads, and outbound link clicks. GoatCounter is configured as a simple analytics service and is intended to avoid invasive cross-site tracking.
The website may receive limited technical information such as:
- Page URLs and referrers
- Approximate browser and device information
- Basic event data such as download or GitHub link clicks
- IP-derived request metadata processed by hosting and analytics providers
Information the app handles
The app reads browser profile metadata stored locally on your Mac so it can present the available browsers and profiles when routing a link. This processing happens locally on your device.
The app may also handle:
- URLs you open through Switchlet
- Domain routing rules and preferences you configure
- Clipboard URLs when you use the clipboard link picker
This data is used to provide the app's core functionality and is not sent to a Switchlet-operated backend service.
Network access
The website makes network requests required to serve the site, load fonts, and record privacy-friendly analytics.
The app does not require a Switchlet account or cloud sync service. Depending on the build and configuration, the app may make network requests for release, update, or notarization-related distribution features such as Sparkle update checks.
Sharing
Information may be processed by third-party infrastructure used to operate the site and distribute the app, including GitHub Pages, GitHub Releases, Google Fonts, GoatCounter, and Sparkle-related update infrastructure where applicable.
Retention
Website analytics and hosting logs are retained according to the policies and configuration of the third-party providers operating those services. Data stored locally by the app remains on your device unless you remove the app or its preferences.
Your choices
You can:
- Avoid using the website if you do not want website analytics recorded
- Disable or limit app features you do not want to use, such as update checks if available in-app
- Remove the app and its local data from your Mac at any time
Children's privacy
Switchlet is not directed to children under 13, and the site owner does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
This policy may be updated from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when changes are made.
